Global Climate Week at Flansburgh

September 20, 2019 |

Climate Week, hosted in NYC, is where people come together to showcase climate action and converse about how to do more to save our Earth. We are committed to sustainable design. Flansburgh has pledged to the AIA 2030 Commitment. The 2030 Challenge is an action plan that implements steps to advance the goal of carbon neutral buildings.

The Energy Lab at the Hawai’i Preparatory Academy, pictured above, is an award-winning building that employs photovoltaics and wind turbines to meet its energy needs (using no more energy than it generates over the course of a year), harvests rainwater to meet its portable water needs, and uses natural ventilation. We designed the first LEED Certified public school in Massachusetts nearly 20 years ago. Since then we have continued to be leaders in sustainable design, completing the first educational building to meet the Living Building Challenge with the HPA Energy Lab in 2010, pictured above. A goal on all of our educational projects is to engage the students and teachers in the act of sustainable living.
