AIA Honolulu recently honored Flansburgh with its Community Impact Award for the design of the Liliʻuokalani Center. The accolade, which distinguishes architectural interventions that successfully dismantle physical and abstract barriers, recognizes built environments that empower individuals to gather, connect, and thrive within a unified community. Accepting the award on behalf of the project were Flansburgh Vice President Joe Marshall, Associate Naomi Levine, Bill Beatrice, and Christina Schaller, alongside representatives from the Liliʻuokalani Trust.
Realized in close collaboration with Studio Kipuka, SSFM, Buro Happold, Censeo, P&PFC, Matsumoto, PBR, and Kiewit, the project establishes a vibrant civic space that deeply honors the cultural heritage of Honolulu’s local communities.
