Jack Kerouac Center Unveils Architectural Designs and Mosaic Campaign
The Jack Kerouac Center has unveiled architectural renderings by Flansburgh Architects detailing the transformation of Lowell, Massachusetts’ historic St. Jean Baptiste Church, a site deeply connected to Kerouac’s life, into a multi-use cultural venue featuring a 1,500-seat performance hall, exhibition spaces, recording facilities, a bookstore, and a dedicated home for the author’s legendary scrolls. Initially enabled by singer-songwriter Zach Bryan’s acquisition of the church in 2025, the design preserves the original structure while adding a modern, stream-of-consciousness-inspired wing framed by views of local Kerouac landmarks. To fund the next phase, the Center launched a picture mosaic campaign in collaboration with the Tom Palumbo Estate.
