Team

Our project teams are comprised of highly experienced staff members, who combine their knowledge and creativity to devise beautiful, integrated, and sustainable design solutions. Our average staff tenure is ten years; our average level of experience is fifteen years; two thirds of our architects are LEED certified. To ensure consistency and a high degree of personal service for our clients, we maintain the same core team throughout a project and our four principals are personally involved in every design.


Leadership

David Croteau, President, AIA, LEED AP

Mr. Croteau serves as the President and Principal of Flansburgh Architects. He has over 30 years of experience managing, planning, and designing projects throughout the US, and over 30 countries overseas. David directs efforts to extend Flansburgh’s geographic reach and its capacity to deliver contemporary, culturally sensitive projects in a wide range of environmental conditions. He specializes in public, private, and international arts and educational institutions. For each project David combines his strong commitment to sustainability, design innovation, authenticity and craft with careful attention to the needs of his clients.

Jorge Cruz, Exec. Vice President, AIA, LEED AP

Mr. Cruz has more than thirty-three years of experience in project management, architectural design, contract documents, and construction administration. His areas of expertise include accessibility design, specifications, and code compliance, and through his careful planning and cost control, he brings large-scale renovations and new construction in on-time and significantly under budget.

Kent Kovacs, Senior Vice President, AIA, LEED AP

Mr. Kovacs has nearly twenty-five years of experience in master planning and architectural design for a variety of building types. His representative projects include numerous independent and K–12 public schools and college and university facilities as well as commercial/retail and mixed-use buildings. Mr. Kovacs recent projects include St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, MA and Nauset Regional High School located on the National Seashore.

Joseph Marshall, Vice President, AIA

As a designer and planner, Joe is dedicated to the realization of memorable spaces. His representative projects include public and private educational institutions, civic and performing arts facilities, and residential estates across six continents. He advocates for streamlined Building Information Modeling (BIM) to aid in design communication, and coordination.

Vince Dubé, Senior Associate, AIA, LEED AP

Since joining Flansburgh Architects in 1995, Vince has been the Project Manager/Architect and design team member for numerous public education projects involving both renovation and new construction. He has over thirty-three years of experience and an architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Daithi Blair, Associate, AIA

Daithi has more than fifteen years of experience in master planning, architectural design and construction administration specializing in educational, residential and arts facilities in a variety of construction types. Recent projects include Jacob's Pillow's Ted Shawn Theatre, Wilbraham & Monson Academy's Athenaeum, a new student center for the Perkiomen School and Williston Northampton School's Residential Quadrangle.

Naomi Levine, Associate, AIA

Naomi draws from a joint technical and design background with degrees in both physics and architectural design. She has experience with room acoustics and predictive sound modeling and is particularly interested in the implementation of computational design strategies. She is currently working on a new middle school for Esperanza Academy, a tuition free school for girls in Lawrence, MA. In her free time Naomi enjoys woodworking, singing, and being in nature.


Studio

Bill Beatrice, Project Architect, AIA

Bill has over 30 years of experience in project management, contract administration, and architectural design. He acted as Project Manager for a number of projects for St. John’s Preparatory School. His portfolio consists mostly of school projects including new construction, addition/renovation, and facilities assessments. He resides in Hawaii and is currently working on the Liliuokalani Trust project.

Christina Schaller, Project Architect, AIA, NCARB, NOMA

Christina joined Flansburgh in 2018 and is currently working on the Liliuokalani Trust, supporting the construction administration process on a complex and inspiring renovation project. Her interests outside of work include traveling, reading, mentoring and fellowshipping with her church and peer communities.

Roberta Nardi, Project Architect, RA

Roberta is an experienced architect with over a decade of experience designing a diverse range of building types in Europe and North America. After graduating from Università Iuav di Venezia in Italy and acquiring her European architect license, she served as project manager for several design competitions in Paris, Rome, and Milan, including the Renovation of the Poste du Louvre and the winning designs for the new BNL-BNP Paribas Headquarters, Dallara Academy, and Bank of Italy Headquarters.

Russell Higgins, Project Architect, AIA

Russell has over 26 years of experience. His work has ranged from large-scale commercial, to mixed-use, to libraries, K-12 schools, and higher education. Outside of the office, Russ is a competitive weightlifter and was the bronze medalist in the M45/109 division at the Master’s Weightlifting World Championships this past December.

Rita Doummar, Project Architect, RA

Rita is a motivated and enthusiastic professional with 15+ years of experience in the architectural design field. She has experience at a wide range of architectural sectors, all where she has been tied to design, project/client management, marketing and business development. She is also an ambitious adjunct professor who enjoys cultivating the minds of young graduates. Outside of work she is a travel enthusiast, scout girl and ballroom dancer.

Jennifer Jabs, Project Architect, AIA, NCARB

Jennifer has more than twenty years of experience in the architecture and design field. Demonstrating acute attention to detail and a strong collaborative ethos, she has overseen a broad spectrum of projects varying in scale and intricacy, facilitating seamless teamwork among stakeholders.

Brian Hores, BIM Manager, AIA

With over 23 years of extensive experience in architectural design, contract document production, and construction administration, Brian is a seasoned professional with a specialized focus on BIM and CAD modeling for diverse building types. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated expertise in handling projects related to public and private educational facilities, municipalities, and residential institutions.

Richard Armitstead, Project Architect, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Richard has more than 20 years of professional construction management and architectural experience that covers many areas of both planning and technical project development including programming, agency approvals, construction documentation, project management, and construction management. He has worked on a diversified range of project types including life-sciences laboratories, healthcare, educational, and mixed-use commercial across the country, as well as overseas.

Michele Baldock, Project Architect, AIA

Michele has over 27 years of architectural design experience, specializing in educational spaces. Her expertise spans all phases of project development, from conceptual design through construction administration, with a strong emphasis on engineering coordination, technical detailing, and the creation of distinctive design solutions. Before joining Flansburgh, Michele contributed her expertise to notable firms including Sasaki, SMMA, Elkus Manfredi, and Schwartz/Silver Architects.

Wen-Yang Lin, Project Architect, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Wen-Yang is a registered architect in Massachusetts with over 11 years of experience. He has delivered a diverse range of projects across the USA, Asia, and the Middle East. Before joining Flansburgh, Wen-Yang worked at Elkus Manfredi and CambridgeSeven. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and playing badminton and basketball.

Ryan Decker, Project Architect, AIA

Ryan is a licensed architect with over 13 years of professional experience, specializing in a diverse range of project typologies and scales, ranging from ground-up institutional buildings to custom millwork installations. Outside of architecture, Ryan enjoys cycling, hiking, and beach outings with his family.

Joseph M Hoepp, Project Architect, AIA, LEED AP

Joey is an architect with 20+ years of experience leading technically complex academic and institutional projects from concept through construction. His has a proven expertise in building technology, project management, BIM coordination, code reviews, QA/QC, and sustainability. He is passionate about innovative design solutions and mentoring teams. He enjoys exploring Boston and the region with his husband and daughter through hikes, camping, skiing, bike rides, and rowing.

Nicolo Guida, Project Architect, AIA

Nico is an accomplished architect, bringing experience from designLAB Architects and Höweler+Yoon. He has worked on a diverse range of projects, including the renovation of a 100-year-old bank building in Oil City, Pennsylvania; the restoration of a quarter-mile-long historic bathhouse in South Boston; and the design of a wellness center for Quinnipiac University. He shares his expertise through teaching, leading a Comprehensive Studio at Northeastern University and a Brutalist Furniture Design course at UMass Amherst. Outside of his professional life, Nico is a dedicated practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and an avid reader of science fiction.

Mike Banks, Designer

Mike provides invaluable support by building physical models, creating CAD models, and developing visualizations that help bring ideas to life. Outside of work, Mike's passions extend to Golden-Age Illustration, where he appreciates the timeless artistry it embodies. He also finds fulfillment in free artistic expression, reading, and playtime with his children.

Jessica Libby, Architectural Designer

Jessica finds the most exhilarating aspect of architecture lies in the ability to make daily spaces beautiful. Her focus on designing for public schools has been particularly fulfilling, as it allows her to play a significant role in shaping the learning and growth experiences of students. Beyond her architectural endeavors, she is an avid runner, having participated in three Boston Marathons in support of Boston Children's Hospital. Additionally, Jessica’s creative pursuits extend to the realm of baking and cake decorating.

Alex Diaz, Architectural Designer

Alex has 9 years of experience in residential, developer, institutional, installation, and graphic design projects. Prior to Flansburgh, He was a designer and project manager at NADAAA for 5 years specializing in design excellence. Projects include the new Massachusetts Institute of Technology Site 4 Development, the MBTA Kendall Station, and Harvard Art Museums, each winning numerous international awards.

Shichong Xie, Architectural Designer

Shichong is a graduate of the Boston Architectural College and brings over 12 years of experience in Boston-based architectural design. Before joining Flansburgh, he contributed his expertise to notable firms such as Handel Architects, ARC, and BH+A. Outside of the office, Shichong enjoys playing volleyball, biking, and traveling.

Stephanie Wallace, Controller

Stephanie has nearly a decade of experience guiding financial and operational strategy at architectural firms. She has a strong command of financial management, operations, and organizational strategy, paired with a sharp eye for detail and a talent for turning complexity into clarity. Her interdisciplinary background in art and photography informs a collaborative, creative approach to problem-solving. This unique perspective allows her to navigate challenges from multiple angles.

Sarah Ryan-Theroux, Marketing Director

Sarah is a marketing professional with a background in art and design. She is interested in the connection between people, architecture, and nature, and how buildings reflect and shape the lives of those who use them. She is an active member of SMPS Boston and her city’s Cultural Council, and in her free time, she enjoys creating art and spending time outdoors with her family.

Lisa Purdy, Office Manager

Lisa holds the role of Office Manager at Flansburgh, where she orchestrates seamless operations within the firm. Outside of her professional engagements, Lisa possesses a passion for Fiber Artistry, adeptly exploring sewing, knitting and natural dyes. She finds intriguing parallels between her artistic pursuits and the world of Architecture. Lisa's commitment to sustainability is evident in her daily choice to ride her bike to work, showcasing her dedication to eco-conscious practices.
