Boston Lyric Opera

Performance, Exhibit & Rehearsal Space for Opera | Boston, MA

Now in its 49th Season, Boston Lyric Opera is dedicated to creating compelling operatic experiences throughout the greater Boston area. The new tenant fit-up at Midway studios serves as an anchor for creative professionals, students, and the arts community in Fort Point Arts district. It allows BLO to present wide-reaching community and educational public programs and performances year-round. It also offers rehearsal space and a professional workspace for creatives and entrepreneurs, providing support for Boston’s creative economy and expanding local creative industry infrastructure with state-of-the-art facilities. Retail offerings connected to galleries at Midway Studios and gathering spaces also provide opportunities for community events. The project includes a 5,300 square foot immersive gathering space, 1,100 square foot rehearsal space, practice room, workspace, wine bar and back-of-house support areas. It involves the conversion of a 14,000 square foot tenant space that was a boxing gym. Improvements included, new acoustical separation assemblies, enhanced sound and lighting systems, AV infrastructure for projection and video wall installations, theatrical and aerial acrobatics rigging, new elevator for accessible community access, improvements of MEP/FP systems and new exterior openings to engage the neighborhood.
